How to Remove Grease from Carpet
All grease is oil, but not all oil is grease. Grease is a liquid substance that is composed of oil and a thickening agent. It is used for lubrication. Oil, on the other hand, is just oil.
Despite the difference, both of them are thicker than water, which means that removing them from carpet is not an easy job!
It is avoidable to have your carpet acquire grease, though. Just avoid going near it when you know yourself that you have any oil-based substance or food with you and that’s it. However, it’s not like you will be able to remember that every single minute of the day!
Instead of that, why not learn how to remove grease from carpet? Removing grease from carpet may not be as easier as sweeping the floor, but knowing how to remove it will help a lot, especially in accidental cases!
There are several ways to remove grease from carpet. However, as I said earlier, you should move as fast as you can when it comes to grease stains! So I am going to tell you how to use one of the things I bet you can acquire in no time to remove grease stains: dishwashing liquid!
Dishwashing liquid is effective not just to clean plates but also to clean the floor, to polish jewelries, and even to kill ants!
Now, if you already have the dishwashing liquid with you, grab some water as you will need it as well to remove the grease stains.
Here’s what to do:
- Add a quarter cup of dishwashing liquid into one cup of water. Mix them well.
- Get a cloth and dip it into the mixture. Press the cloth to the area of the carpet where the grease is located.
- Leave the cloth there for a few minutes.
- Dry the area with a dry cloth and see if there’s grease stain left.
- If there is none left, cover the area with a clean cloth or a paper towel, whichever is available.
- Put heavy objects on top for a few hours to a day so as to absorb the remaining liquid.
Removing grease from carpet is not a tough job, as you can see. However, it can be inconvenient, depending on how busy you are!
